I got out my skirt today that I upcycled a while ago, and I decided that I hated the hem. So today, I’m going to refashion my refashion. It’s not going to make it look significantly different, but it is going to help the waist. I’m going to teach you how to make a nice waistband, since I messed this one up so badly. Remember this skirt?

Well, the skirt has side ruffles in it, which completely messed up my hemming. See my bad job at sewing? ðŸ™‚

Time for a fix! Let’s take out the elastic waistband â€¦

And remove those nasty sides. Sorry for the blurry picture!

Resewed it up without a ruffle and cut off the new waist.

I bought this t-shirt at Walmart a while back. It was $3 which makes for a great bunch of fabric for small projects. Granted, not as good as a Goodwill shirt, but still good.

Cut a strip of fabric for a new waist.

Pin the elastic band on it.

Oops, too big. ðŸ™‚

Pinned it to the inside of my skirt. Make sure you pin the right sides together.

Sew the waistband to the skirt. Make sure you stretch both fabrics so it evenly attaches itself.

And Voila! How awesome is that. Here is Lex striking another great pose for the camera!
